Professor for Geoinformatics with Location Based Applications and Spatial Data Infrastructures at the Beuth University of Technology Berlin
Besides his role as the chair of the Wherecamp Navigation Conference, he was appointed to a professorship for Geoinformatics and GeoIT with e.g. navigation, location based applications and spatial data infrastructures at the Beuth University of Technology in Berlin in 2008. Prior he was active at the Institute for Geoinformatics of the University of Münster (ifgi) and at con terra GmbH (2005-2008). He received his PhD via the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and System Engineering (ISST/FOCUS) in Berlin, Dortmund and Beijing (Prof. Yanbo Han, CAS ICT/NCUT) (2000-2005). Roland Wagner holds an degree in aerospace engineering of the University of Stuttgart with specializations in control theory and informatics. Within that academic frame he was also active at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and at EPF in Paris and lived there. Toulouse (Airbus Flight Test) and Kiev (Institute for Navigation, KPI) were other locations.
Today Roland Wagner is jury member of the largest German Startup contest IKT innovative by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Energy. Since 2010 he is also committee member and local organizer of droidcon Berlin, which are with London the leading Android conferences in IT mainstream.
Together with Jan and Philipp, Roland founded the “Wherecamp Berlin” in 2012 after a visit of the Wherecamp Stanford.
